PC Doctor Edward's Computer Class No3 - Choosing a Printer
BackgroundFor some people purchasing a new printer can be a very puzzling due to the many different makes, models and types. If you are purchasing for the home or for a small business the variety of printers that is now available can be quite difficult to understand in terms of what is the best one for you. There also a number of specialised printers available which are intended for specific needs. Not so long ago we simply purchased a printer to print. Nowadays they are designed to be used in very particular ways, e.g. photos, documentation, design drawings, envelopes, etc.
Cost of ownershipIf you are considering purchasing a new printer you need to first make sure that you understand probably the most overlooked issues which is ‘cost of ownership’. Many manufacturers offer printer equipment at very competitive prices and produce specialised ink and toner cartridges that can only be used with a specific printer. These cartridges, which can be very expensive, must be purchased either from the manufacturer or their agents. Check out the cost of replacement cartridges and the ‘average number of pages’ a cartridge will produce. Consider cheaper compatible cartridge options and for photographic printing it may be far cheaper to go to your local retailer to have them process and print the photographs. This is just one thing that you need to consider before making any type of purchase.
The David Fletcher Story - UpdateBy Glen Dairyman
Readers may remember the story we ran about local child abuser David Fletcher. If not you can read it here. Well the poor old pervert has finally lost his remaining marbles. It seems he's not a happy bunny and has decided to blame his current address, Prisoner Number 3421/53, Bangkok Special Prison, Khlong Prem, Lard Yao, Thailand on practically everyone else.
To highlight his case, Fletcher has issued a press release from his cell in which he imagines that somehow he is the victim of a major international conspiracy involving no lesser people than Rupert Murdoch, Scott Neeson and the King of Cambodia.
